RoHS and WEEE Regulations

The Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2006.

The RoHS Regulations ban the putting on the EU market of new Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) containing more than the permitted levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and both polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants from 1 July 2006.

The Waste Equipment and Electronic Equipment (Amendment) Regulations 1997

The WEEE Directive aims to both reduce the amount of electrical and electronic equipment being produced and to encourage everyone to reuse, recycle and recover it. The WEEE Directive also aims to improve the environmental performance of businesses that manufacture, supply, use, recycle and recover electrical and electronic equipment.
