Rubber keypads are made using compression moulding techniques and can be made with multiple colours and impressions. To backlight a keypad, you mould the keys using translucent rubber which is then sprayed or printed. Finally, the key is laser etched for detail and shape. For constructing a hard button keypad, injection moulded keycaps are fitted to a rubber mat. Metal or polyester dome arrays can also be added for extra tactile feedback.
